The Postgraduate Studies Program (PSM) “Sustainable Technologies of Energy Resources and Raw Materials” aims to facilitate high-level knowledge transfer and promote research in the field of sustainable development. It adopts a broad interdisciplinary approach to achieve these objectives. The program offers two specializations: I) Sustainable Technologies for Exploitation of Energy Resources-Environment, and II) Sustainable Technologies for Exploration and Exploitation of Raw Materials-Recycling.

Graduates of this MSc program possess the qualifications to address and resolve critical issues related to the exploration, exploitation, processing, and utilization of raw materials and energy resources by employing environmentally friendly methods, within the context of the ongoing transition from a traditional economic model to a modern circular economy. Specifically, the learning outcomes sought by graduates in each specialization are as follows:

  • To gain a strong scientific foundation in sustainable and economically efficient technologies for utilizing energy resources, both conventional and renewable, while minimizing environmental impact. This specialization emphasizes carbon capture, sequestration and storage, energy transition technologies, production of biofuels and synthetic fuels, as well as design of energy-efficient plants.
  • To acquire a solid scientific background in economically viable and energy efficient technologies for exploring and exploiting raw materials, with a focus on recycling and utilization of by-products and waste in accordance with the principles of the circular economy. This specialization emphasizes conventional and advanced characterization techniques for primary and secondary materials, aiming to achieve secondary production of critical and high-value products, including metals and other materials.

Each semester lasts 13 weeks and comprises four courses; each course involves two lectures per week (on different days). In addition to attending and successfully completing the courses, students are required to attend research seminars and to conduct independent study.

The students will also prepare and present a capstone project on a topic of their choice related to Machine Learning and Data Science.   • Six (6) courses (54 ECTS in total) and two (2) research leactures (6 ECTS in total) contribute 60 ECTS
  • The Master’s thesis contributes 30 ECTS.

Courses for the Master’s degree will be taught in English. The Master’s thesis will be written in English.

The Master in Responsible Consumption is the first programme of its kind in Europe and is based on four core pillars to give you a unique perspective on the principles of the circular economy. These key pillars aim to:
